Condo & Guarino Compete in Javelin at 2017 NCAA DIII National Championships

GENEVA, Ohio --- Moravian College junior Robert Condo and senior Michael Guarino competed in the javelin on the opening day of the 2017 NCAA Division III National Championship meet being hosted by The University of Mount Union and the City of Cleveland at the SPIRE Institute.

Condo and Guarino were part of the second flight of ten competitors in the field of 20 student-athletes. In the preliminaries, Guarino, who was competing in the NCAA meet for the first time while finishing his collegiate career on Thursday, had marks of 48.81 meters (160-1), 55.82 meters (183-1) and 59.28 meters (194-6) as he was 12th after the first round of three throws for each competitor.

Condo, throwing one spot in front of Guarino in the random draw, posted distances of 53.84 meters (176-7), 51.28 meters (168-3) and 60.27 meters (197-9) with the final mark putting him in the ninth and last spot to advance to the finals. As the first thrower in the final round, Condo had distances of 57.49 meters (188-7), 53.75 meters (176-4) and 52.77 meters (173-1) to remain in ninth in his first trip to the NCAA Championships.

Moravian's 2016-17 athletic season is now complete after Thursday's competition at the track & field championships.
