ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's outdoor track & field squad won one event on the opening day of the 2024 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships being hosted by Elizabethtown College Saturday. The Hounds are in third place after five events have been scored.
Moravian Event Winners
- Graduate student Tim King won the title in the hammer throw with an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference qualifying toss of 49.52 meters (162-5) in the opening event of the meet for ten points
Moravian Top 8 Finishers
- Junior Nathan Hajel was the runner-up in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 33:06.45 to score eight points while senior Josh Mangini placed third in 33:11.46 to earn six points
- Sophomore Bryan Kerchner placed third in the 1,500-meter run with an AARTFC qualifying and PR time of 3:57.54, the eighth fastest time in program history, to earn six points. Senior Casey Frank was sixth in 4:04.59 for three points while junior Owen Nahf took eighth in 4:07.53 to garner one point
- Senior Dan McNicholas finished third in the hammer throw with a distance of 46.90 meters (153-10) to score six points for the Hounds
- In preliminary events, sophomore Javon McKay won his heat and was third overall in the 100-meter dash in 11.02 seconds while sophomore Jacob Fenstermaker was sixth with a time of 11.16 seconds as both qualified for the finals on Sunday
- Sophomore Liam Maguire was seventh in the 110-meter high hurdles in a PR time of 16.53 seconds to make the finals
- McKay earned the final qualifying spot in the 200-meter dash with a qualifying time of 22.65 seconds
