Why did you choose Moravian College?
I chose Moravian because of how close everyone is. I went to a small high school, so Moravian’s small class sizes and close community made me feel right at home. The amount of engagement between students and faculty is great, and that’s probably one of the biggest reasons why I have enjoyed my experience here so far.

What is your major and why?
I am majoring in Economics and minoring in Computer Science. The biggest reason why I chose to study these topics is because of the amazing faculty in these departments. They have done an amazing job helping me these past couple of years.

What has been your favorite course at Moravian and why?
Drawing 1, because it was a course that was irrelevant to my major and I feel it gave me the opportunity to get away from the textbooks and really be artistic. It was a fun experience and I would recommend anyone to take the course.

What are your plans for the future once you finish your degree at Moravian?
I would like to continue my education and pursue a master’s degree in health analytics. Regarding my professional career, I would like to work in the field of healthcare economics.

What is your most memorable moment as a Greyhound?
My most memorable moment was the first time I was a conference champion. I felt so proud of myself standing on the top of the podium. I felt proud to be a Greyhound, and I really felt like I did something great for my team and school.

How has being an athlete helped you as a student and in the classroom?
Athletes have to learn time management because of class, practice, meals, and other activities. I feel that this has allowed me to stay on top of my studies and make sure I’m dedicating enough time to my schoolwork as well as my sport.

What is the hardest part of your sport?
The hardest part of being a track athlete is being mentally focused. It’s much different than football or basketball because you have teammates there alongside you to help. With track, it’s much more individualized and the only person in that lane or in the throwing circle is you, so you need to be focused.

Why do you wear your jersey number?
Well, I don’t have one. However, if I did wear a number, I would wear 33 because it was my basketball number in high school. More importantly, the reason I wore it was because it was my father’s football jersey number from high school. He has been such a great role model in my life and I took every opportunity I could to commemorate that.

Name one obstacle or form of adversity you have had to overcome?
The summer before coming to Moravian, I fractured my leg playing in a football game. I couldn’t do much for about two months and I became out of shape. I struggled throughout my freshman year to lose weight and become more athletic again, and I can say now being a junior that I have managed to overcome this and I am probably in the best shape of my life.

Why is community service important to your role as a student-athlete at Moravian?
It is good to share with others the values and work ethic you learn from being an athlete. Many skills and aspects of sports can relate to your everyday life.

What advice do you have for a prospective Moravian College student-athlete?
It’s not all about sports. You have to be a student first, and athlete second. If you can’t make the grades, you won’t be able to participate in the sport you love to play.
