Men's Cross Country Has High Hopes for 2014

Bethlehem, Pa.- The Moravian College men's cross country team is attempting to make their way back atop the leader boards. The men's team was picked to finish fourth in the Landmark Conference preseason polls for 2014 the same place they finished in the Landmark Conference this past year.

Returning for their senior years, both Landmark First Team All-Conference honorees Alec Duncan and Dillon Farrell are hoping the six new freshmen can get them back to a Landmark Conference Championship. Duncan finished in 7th at the 2013 Landmark Conference Championships, earning him Landmark All-Conference First Team honors for the third straight year. He was also named to the Landmark Conference All-Sportsmanship Team honors.

Farrell captured first place at the 2013 Landmark Conference Championship, as he earned Landmark Conference All-Conference First Team and 2013 Landmark Conference Runner of the Year honors for the second year in a row. He went on to place 11th at the 2013 NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals and earned a place on the All-Region Team and was a NCAA Division III National Championship qualifier.

Head Coach Jesse Baumann had this to say about his returning All-Conference seniors "Al and Dillon came back in the best shape they have ever been in.  They will really lead us this year, they are both heavy hitters for us. I expect Dillon to do a lot at the national level this year and I feel Al has a great shot at qualifying."

Also, returning are junior Jeremy Rigotti, junior Maxwell Korten and senior Corey Schauerman with all three looking to improve their times this season.

"Jeremy, Max and Corey all had good summers and we will really look to rely on them in our top five.  We will also look for our freshmen to step up and add depth to our team and hope they can transition quickly and adjust to the courses," said Coach Baumann.

The Greyhounds will have their first meet on Friday, August 29 at the Lehigh University Invitational.
