Farrell Named Landmark Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for 3rd Time

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior Dillon Farrell has been honored as the Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the third time this season after his performance last week.

Farrell captured first place at the Goucher College Cross Country Classic on Saturday with a time of 29:15.15 on the 8,000-meter course. Farrell out-paced the 82-runner field by 14 seconds as he helped the Greyhounds place third as a team in the event.

"Our main objective was to preview the course that we'll run on for Landmarks in a few weeks," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "It was extremely muddy and our athletes were mainly focused on watching their footing. If we placed well, that was great, but it really wasn't a focus at all going into the meet.

"Dillon held back a bit through 6k with the main pack and then took off to win by a pretty good margin," Baumann continued. "He, along with a few of the leaders got a little lost on the course, so it was good to preview it and get those kinks out of the way before Landmarks, and it was impressive that despite that confusion, he was still able to win."

Moravian will have its final tune-up before the Landmark meet on Saturday, October 18 when the Greyhounds travel to the Princeton University Invitational at 12:00 p.m.
