Farrell Runs Away with 4th Landmark Athlete of the Week Honor

TOWSON, Md. --- For the fourth time this fall, Moravian College senior Dillon Farrell has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for his performance this past weekend.

Farrell was fourth of 337 runners in the Open Race at the Princeton University Invitational last Saturday in a time of 24:37, just two seconds off of his school-record time on an 8,000-meter course. Farrell has the top four times in school history and eight of the top 10, and his three fastest times have all come on the course at Princeton including a school-best 24:35 in 2013.

Farrell was the top NCAA Division III runner in the Open Race, and he had the second fastest time of the day for a Division III competitor, finishing one second off the time of a runner from Haverford College that participated in the Championship Race.

"Truth be told we were both hoping for a faster time, but it still wasn't a bad race," commented Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "One of the favorites to win the region was in the other race, and his time was only one second faster than Dillon's so even though we wanted a quicker time, it's encouraging that he's basically running what the top runners in the region are running."

Farrell will look to win his third straight Landmark Conference Individual Championship when the Greyhounds return to action at the 2014 Landmark Championships being hosted by Goucher College on Saturday, November 1. The men's race is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m.
