Jaindl Honored as Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College freshman Gregory Jaindl has been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Jaindl led the Hounds to a fourth place team showing at the season opening Lehigh University Invitational last Friday evening by finishing in 22nd place individually among the 70 runners in a time of 20:10.02 on the 6,000-meter course.

"Meg Brockett can attest to my excitement when I found out Greg committed to Moravian," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "She was with me en route to a meet in Boston in March when he sent me a text saying he was going to be a future 'Hound. He is new to this sport with only one year of cross country under his belt, so I knew in the spring he had untapped potential and a really high ceiling. Friday gave us a glimpse of that as he stuck with our pack and used some of his natural speed to close well the final 1200 meters. We're hoping this is a start of a very promising career here not only for Greg, but the rest of our top five pack which includes four freshmen and a sophomore who were separated by only 12 seconds."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Friday, September 16 when the squad hosts the Moravian College Invitational at Bicentennial Park in Northampton, Pennsylvania with the first race beginning at 5:30 p.m.
