Softball Picked 2nd in Landmark Preseason Poll

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College softball team has been picked to finish second in the 2015 Landmark Conference preseason poll conducted by the conference coaches.

The Greyhounds received 44 points and one first-place vote while defending conference champion Susquehanna University garnered the other six first-place votes and a total of 60 points. Rounding out the top four were The Catholic University of America with 40 points and Elizabethtown College with 24 points.

Head Coach John Byrne enters his 22nd season leading Moravian with an overall mark of 675-213, and he has 12 players and four starters back from last year's 29-8 squad that reached the postseason for the 21st consecutive season.

"We have a solid core of returning players and nine newcomers that are challenging for playing time in preseason practice," commented Byrne. "The preseason poll is a good start to the season but it is really how the ranking looks at the end of the season that matters the most."

The Greyhounds are scheduled to begin their season on Sunday, March 8 with the first two of 10 games at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida as the Hounds take on Fontbonne (Mo.) University at 3:00 p.m. and Millikin (Ill.) University at 5:00 p.m.
