Carisone Named Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior Amanda Carisone has been named the Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week.

Carisone, who earned her second conference honor of the season, posted a 3-0 week in the circle as No. 13 Moravian went 5-1 during the week including a sweep of Elizabethtown College to open the Landmark Conference season. Carisone had a 0.94 ERA with five runs, three earned, on 18 hits and three walks to go with 16 strikeouts in 22.1 innings over four appearances. She became the seventh pitcher in school history to reach 250 career strikeouts, and Carisone is eighth in school history with 45 career wins including an 8-0 mark this spring. Carisone tossed a pair of complete games during the week, and she had seven assists in the field in eight chances.

"Amanda has continued her strong start to the season and has shown really good control of her pitches," stated Head Coach John Byrne. "When she has gotten into a jam, Amanda's composure has allowed her to work out of them and keep winning games."

Moravian, 14-2 overall and 2-0 in Landmark Conference action, is scheduled to return to action on Thursday, March 30 in a non-conference doubleheader versus Wilkes University beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Blue & Grey Field as the Greyhounds are set to play at home for the first time this season.
