LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Nine members of the Moravian College softball team are among the over 7,300 softball student-athletes to garner National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2016-17 academic year.

Greyhounds earning the honors were 2017 graduates third baseman Victoria Conner, catcher Niki Maffettone, infielder Chrissy Marinaro and first baseman Abby Jeffries, rising seniors first baseman Jean Markovic, juniors to be outfielder Ashley Gindle and infielder Madison Shaneberger and rising sophomores outfielder Colleen McCoy and outfielder Samantha O'Keefe.

"This is a tremendous honor for our student-athletes because it shows that they work as hard off of the field on their academics as much as they do on the field for our program," stated Head Coach John Byrne, whose team also received NFCA Tam Academic Award honors for a 3.233 team GPA in 2016-17. "The graduates in this group of award winners have already started to move onto outstanding post-graduate careers, and we look to the returning players to continue their hard work on and off the field in 2017-18."

To earn NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.5 grade-point average of higher for the academic year. The list for 2016-17 included 1,825 NCAA Division III players including 27 from the Landmark Conference.
