No. 11 Greyhounds Heading to Ewing, N.J. for NCAA DIII Regionals Beginning on May 11

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The No. 11 ranked Moravian College softball team is heading to the The College of New Jersey for the 2018 NCAA Division III Softball National Championship Regionals beginning on Friday, May 13 with the Greyhounds opening play against Salisbury (Md.) University (28-13), which earned an at-large berth to the tournament, at 12:00 p.m.

The action on Friday continues with host The College of New Jersey (31-8), also an at-large selection, playing Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University (31-11), the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Champion, playing at 2:30 p.m.

Games will run through Sunday, May 13 in the double-elimination tournament with the winner of the regional advancing to one of eight Super Regionals on May 18-19. The eight Super Regional winners will advance to the NCAA Division III Championship Round in Oklahoma City from May 24-29 at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex.

Moravian Head Coach John Byrne has guided the Greyhounds to a 32-5 mark this season, and the Hounds earned an automatic berth by capturing the 2018 Landmark Conference Championship on Sunday for the program's eighth Landmark title and 16th conference championship. The Hounds are making their 17th NCAA Division III Tournament appearance. Byrne, who is 818-239 in 25 seasons, has led the program to a 41-34 mark in NCAA Tournament action, and the Greyhounds won NCAA Regional titles in 2004, 2007 and 2010 for berths in the NCAA Division III World Series. The squad also had a regional title in 2015 to reach the Super Regionals for the first time. Moravian played for the national title in 2004, finishing as the runner-up.
