BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University softball squad dropped a pair of games in the 2024 NCAA Division III Bethlehem, Pennsylvania Regional at Blue & Grey Field Friday to end the season with the Hounds falling to Muskingum (Ohio) University, 3-1, in a winner's bracket game to start the day, and Roanoke (Va.) College, 3-1, in the final elimination game of the regional.
How It Happened - Muskingum
- The Greyhounds, batting as the visiting team, jumped an early 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first inning. Junior first baseman Lindsey Gawrys drew a one-out walk before sophomore catcher Marcie Silberman was hit by a pitch. Junior left fielder Sage Snyder followed with an RBI single to left field as Gawrys raced home
- The Fighting Muskies knotted the score in the bottom of the second inning with a solo home run
- Muskingum moved ahead in the bottom of the sixth with two more runs on a two RBI double
- The Blue & Grey would have just one other hit in the game as senior designated player Emily Silberman led off the top of the seventh with a single
- Senior Madi Cunningham fell to 18-3 on the season in the circle as she allowed three runs on four hits to go with three strikeouts
How It Happened - Roanoke
- The Maroons took the early lead in the elimination game with a run on an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning
- Moravian, once again batting as the visiting team, knotted the contest in the top of the fourth when Marcie Silberman connected on a solo home run to right center field that just cleared the fence. The homer extended Silberman's school and Landmark Conference record to 16 homers this spring
- Roanoke countered in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single to move back ahead 2-1
- The Maroons added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single
- Sophomore Natalie Otto took the loss in the circle as she allowed three runs on six hits and three walks to go with one strikeout in five-plus innings of work. Cunningham, who is graduating early in just three years, came on to pitch the final inning with a hit allowed to close out her collegiate career

- Moravian had just six hits in the two games with Marcie Silberman having a hit, a run, a homer and an RBI
- Snyder contributed a hit and an RBI while Emily Silberman, sophomore third baseman Sydney Andrews, sophomore right fielder Sarah DeStefano and freshman center fielder Shayla Morgan each had one hit
- Gawrys scored a run for the Hounds
- The Greyhounds are 53-45 in tournament play after completing their 20th NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and the first at home
