Why did you choose Moravian College?
When I was given a tour as a senior in high school, the cliché, you just know and it feels right, turned out to be true for me. Everyone on campus was super friendly and people would hold doors for you, that’s not something you see on every college campus. The strong academics and softball programs were a bonus and helped make the decision to come to Moravian that much easier.

What is your major and why?
I am a psychology and sociology double major. I am combining the two majors to focus on criminal psychology and law & society.

What has been your favorite course at Moravian and why?
My favorite course at Moravian has been a Criminal Law and Evidence class that I took with John Morganelli who is the Northampton County District Attorney. That class was one that I was always interested in and could focus easily. He used his experiences as the District Attorney to help guide the class which made it very interesting. We learned about real life situations that he has encountered.

What are your plans for the future once you finish your degree at Moravian?
After graduation, I am either going to attend graduate school for Criminology or attend the police academy. My end career goal is working in the Behavioral Analysis Unit as part of the FBI.

What is your most memorable moment as a Greyhound?
There are three moments that stand out the most: winning conferences my freshman year, winning regionals my freshman year, and winning conferences last year. Winning conferences my freshman year was special because we beat Susquehanna on their own field. Winning regionals was special because we moved onto the Final 16 teams. And winning conferences last year was special because we defended what was ours and win it on our home field.

How has being an athlete helped you as a student and in the classroom?
Being a student-athlete has helped me develop better time management, work ethic, and leadership skills. These skills are a very important part of being successful in the classroom setting.

What is the hardest part of your sport?
The hardest part of playing softball is knowing that we are playing a sport of failure and having to push through that to get the results that we want to see. If we fail seven out of ten times that we are up to bat, we are successful. Knowing and accepting that is the hardest thing to do because every student-athletes aims for perfection.

Why do you wear your jersey number?
I wear the number 24 because it was my older cousins number when he played baseball at Bloomsburg. Growing up he was the person I most inspired to be like and wearing his number is a way of paying him back for being a positive role model to me.

Name one obstacle or form of adversity you have had to overcome.
The biggest obstacle to overcome was this past season when my aunt passed away from cancer the week of conferences. It was a very hard time for my family but conferences at home served as a getaway for my family and I. My team showed tremendous support and were there for me through the whole process. For me, winning conferences was for more than just us, it was for my aunt as well.

Why is community service important to your role as a student-athlete at Moravian?
Community service is a big part of being a student-athlete at Moravian for many reasons. The most important reason is because it helps us to grow as individuals and helps us know what it is like to give back. It sets us up for a successful future where we can help people as much as possible.

What advice do you have for a prospective Moravian College student-athlete?

The best advice that I could give is to develop strong relationships with your teammates. They are going to be the people you spend the most time and the sooner they know how you are as a person and a player, the sooner they can help you in your times of struggle. Do not try and take on everything on your own, they are there for a reason and will turn out to be some of the best friends you will make.
