Women's Basketball Picked to Finish 3rd in Landmark Conference

Bethlehem, Pa.--- The Moravian College women's basketball team was picked to finish third in the Landmark Conference Preseason Poll.

Moravian, who went 20-8 overall and 10-4 in the conference last season, is looking to build off what the Hounds have accomplished. The Greyhounds earned a spot in the Landmark Finals and trip to the first round of the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament and are striving to keep the program at that level of play with the return of 11 letterwinners.

"With the loss of five seniors who started almost every game last year, to be picked 3rd in our conference says a lot about our program," stated Head Women's Basketball Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "This team is determined to continue the winning tradition of Moravian women's basketball despite that loss of leadership, points and rebounds."

"The conference is extremely tough this year and for us to compete and ultimately make playoffs, we are going to have to work extremely hard every minute of every game. It will be a challenge for us, but we will be ready when conference play begins," Spirk continued.

The Hounds open their 2014-15 conference play home, against Goucher College at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3.
