Greyhounds Fall to Catholic in Landmark Action

Washington, D.C. --- Senior Alexis Wright led the Moravian College women's basketball team with a game-high of 24 points, and she added 12 rebounds for her 28th career double-double in a hard fought 75-69 loss in Landmark Conference action at The Catholic University of America Saturday.

Wright would add three blocked shots, two steals and two assists on the afternoon. Junior forward Marie Rossignoli scored a career-high nine points on the afternoon and grabbed four rebounds. Junior forward Alesha Marcks netted 16 points, all in the second half, and came down with six rebounds. Sophomore guard Morgan Calabrese would finish the night with eight points and two rebounds while junior guard Emily MacDonnell had six points, four assists and one rebound.

Wright would put up 17 points in the first half along with four rebounds. Rossignoli scored seven in the first half while freshman forward Trista Cunningham and junior forward Karlee Corvasce both put two points on the scoreboard but would still trail the Cardinals, 40-28, going into halftime.

The Greyhounds would cut the deficit to seven with a made 3-pointer by Marcks and a free throw by Wright. The points would go back and forth and a pair of free throws from Marcks would get the Hounds back within seven points. Ultimately, the Blue and Grey wouldn't be able to close the six point gap and the Cardinals took the game 75-69.

Moravian will return to action on Sunday, December 14 as the Greyhounds travel to Albirght College in a non-conference game tipping off at 2:00 p.m. The Hounds will return home to Johnston Hall for Family Day on Saturday, January 3 to take on Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action.
