Wright Selected as Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College graduate student and forward Alexis Wright has been selected as the Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

Wright had her fourth double-double of the season and the 46th of her career with 12 points and 18 rebounds to break the school's career rebounding record and help the Greyhounds win their fifth straight game in an 81-74 victory at DeSales University last Tuesday. She also had five blocked shots, three assists and three steals in the game.

Wright entered the contest needing two rebounds to become the second Moravian player to reach 1,000 career rebounds, which she reached midway through the first quarter. Wright began the game needing 17 rebounds to break Kathy Beck DeKorte's mark of 1,014, and she would pull down the record setting rebound with just over a minute and a half to play in the contest.

In addition to now holding the school record with 1,016 rebounds, Wright is seventh all-time in scoring with 1,421 points and second all-time in blocked shots with 224 at Moravian. She has played in 99 career games for the Greyhounds.

"Alexis is well deserving of this honor as she had a terrific game against DeSales," commented Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "Alexis was solid on both ends of the court. She was able to grab her 1,000 rebounds while also breaking the rebounding record here at Moravian. The record is an amazing accomplishment, and getting the win was even better."

Moravian, 5-1 overall, will continue its six-game road trip on Monday, November 30 with a non-conference game at No. 12 Montclair State University tipping off at 6:00 p.m.
