Hounds Fall to No. 6 Scranton in Landmark Conference Play

SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's basketball team dropped their third game of the 2015-16 season to a team currently ranked in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll at No. 6 University of Scranton in Landmark Conference action Wednesday night. It was the Greyhound's first conference loss of the season falling by a final score of 81-69.

Leading the Blue and Grey was junior forward Camille McPherson, who scored 20 points. McPherson also added six rebounds and three assists on the night. Behind McPherson was senior forward Alesha Marcks, who tallied 11 points, a team leading nine rebounds as well as two assists and two steals while graduate student forward Alexis Wright also added 11 points, one rebound, one block and one assist. Playing big minutes for the Hounds was sophomore forward Trista Cunningham, who scored 10 points and grabbed three rebounds, one steal and one block.

Senior guard Morgan Calabrese contributed seven points, two rebounds, one assists and one steal for the Greyhounds while freshman guard Maggie Melhem tallied three points, five assists and three steals. Senior guard Karine Polgar tossed in three points, two assists, two steals and one block while senior guard Emily MacDonnell has three points and an assists for the Blue and Grey.

Moravian trailed Scranton 16-8 with 3:08 left in the first and then would go on to score the final six points to end the 1st period of play down 16-14. The Royals would outscore the Hounds 43-31 over the middle 20 minutes of action to take control of the game.

The Greyhounds will play their second of four straight road games on Saturday, January 23 as they will head out to Juniata College for a Landmark Conference contest starting at 4:00 p.m.
