Moravian Wins 4th Straight with Non-Conference Victory at Immaculata

IMMACULATA, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's basketball team earned its fourth straight win as the Greyhounds defeated host Immaculata University, 75-56, in non-conference action Wednesday evening.

The Hounds improve to 7-2 with the victory and have one more game before a 20-day lay-off for finals and the holidays.

Senior forward Camille McPherson led three Greyhounds in double figures with 20 points to go along with a team-high nine rebounds and a pair of assists. Freshman guard Maddie Capuanotossed in 14 points to go with four assists, four steals and two boards while freshman guard Karlie Brogan added a career-high 12 points, six rebounds and four steals.

Senior guard Morgan Calabrese contributed nine points and four assists for the Blue and Grey while junior center Ciara Stewart had seven points, two rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Sophomore forward Ariana Caiati pulled down eight rebounds to go with two points while junior guard Taylor Freeman had four points with two assists and two steals.

Freshman center Nadine Ewald added six rebounds, three points and three steals for the Hounds while junior forward Jen Cella contributed four rebounds and three blocked shots. Junior guard Kayla Csencsits and sophomore guard Emily Walls both tossed in two points.

Calabrese hit back-to-back jumpers to give Moravian a quick 4-0 lead as the Blue and Grey led the entire game. Leading by four points, the Greyhounds went on a 9-0 run with Caiati hitting a lay-up for a 24-11 lead with 1:43 left in the first quarter. Moravian had a 24-15 advantage after 10 minutes of action.

Capuano started the second quarter with a three-pointer as the Greyhounds kept the lead in double digits for the rest of the contest. Capuano made Moravian's lead 20 points, 40-20, with a pair of free throws halfway through the period, and the Hounds headed to the locker room with a 43-28 advantage.

McPherson gave the Greyhounds their largest lead of the game, 60-36, with a jumper at the 3:05 mark of the third quarter, and Moravian led 60-42 after 30 minutes of action.

Moravian is scheduled to complete its first semester of action on Saturday, December 10 when the Greyhounds head to No. 20 Albright College for a non-conference game beginning at 2:00 p.m.
