Greyhounds Fall to No. 3 Scranton in Landmark Conference Action

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's basketball team dropped a 76-55 decision to No. 3 The University of Scranton in Landmark Conference action Wednesday evening in Johnston Hall.

The Greyhounds slip to 11-5 overall and 3-2 in Landmark Conference play after dropping their second straight conference contest after starting the league slate 3-0.

Freshman guard Maddie Capuano led three Hounds in double figures with 12 points to go along with five rebounds and a pair of assists. Freshman center Nadine Ewald added 11 points, two boards, two assists and a pair of blocked shots while senior forward Camille McPherson netted 10 points to go with a team-high seven rebounds and four assists.

Junior forward Trista Cunningham contributed six points, five rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals for the Blue and Grey while freshman guard Karlie Brogan added five points and three steals. Junior center Ciara Stewart had four points and four boards while senior guard Morgan Calabrese had three points, two assists and a pair of steals for Moravian. Sophomore forward Ariana Caiati added two points and two boards while junior forward Jen Cella had two points.

Scranton scored the first six points of the contest before Ewald got the Greyhounds on the board. Moravian closed within five points, 16-9, on a three-pointer by Brogan at the 5:40 mark. McPherson has the Hounds down 18-13 with a jumper at 3:41 left in the first quarter but that would be as close as the Blue and Grey would get as the Royals led 27-17 after 10 minutes of action. Scranton maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the contest.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, January 21 in a Landmark Conference game versus Juniata College with tip-off set for 2:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
