McPherson Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College senior forward Camille McPherson has been named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team for NCAA Division III schools in District IV.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania. Moravian has had 43 Greyhounds named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans®.

By making the All-District First Team, McPherson is now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CoSIDA Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced on February 28.

McPherson is majoring in Political Science with minors in Sociology and Spanish, and she has a 3.63 GPA. This season, McPherson is leading the Greyhounds with averages of 23.9 points and 9.0 rebounds per game as Moravian has posted a 17-5 mark so far this winter. McPherson has become the seventh player in school history to reach 500 points in a season with 526 in 22 games, and she has added 62 assists, 48 three-pointers, 17 steals and 12 blocked shots this year. McPherson is shooting 50.6 percent (179-of-354) from the floor, 41.7 percent (48-of-115) beyond the three-point line and 84.5 percent (120-of-142) at the foul line this winter.

McPherson adds to a growing list of awards for the 2016-17 season that has seen her named as the Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week four times, the ECAC Division III Metro Player of the Week once, the United States Basketball Writers Association Division III National Player of the Week once and the D3hoops.com Team of the Week once while also being named the Most Valuable Player at both the Swarthmore College Tip-Off Tournament and Roosevelt's 21st Greyhound Classic hosted by Moravian.

"Camille has had a tremendous year on the court, and this award solidifies her accomplishments in the classroom," stated Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "She embodies the true meaning of student-athlete. Camille has worked tirelessly on her game, but more importantly has put in great effort in her academic endeavors. She understands that hard work does pay off in all areas of life. This is quite an honor for Camille and well deserved."
