TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College women's basketball team is tied for first with The Catholic University of America in the 2017-18 Landmark Conference Preseason Poll voted on by the conference's head coaches.

The Greyhounds and Cardinals each earned 58 points in the poll with the Hounds collecting four first-place votes and Catholic receiving one first-place tally. The University of Scranton had the other three first-place votes and a total of 56 points to take third.

Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk enters her 31st season leading the program with 13 players back from last year's 20-8 squad that played in the Landmark Conference Semifinals and the ECAC Division III Quarterfinals. The Greyhounds received votes in the 2017-18 D3hoops.com Preseason Top 25 Poll last week, and squad has five games scheduled against teams that also received votes or were ranked in the preseason.

"It is great to be recognized by your peers as we start the season," stated Spirk. "We do realize that it is just that, a preseason poll. We still will have a relatively young team, so we do not want to put too much pressure on ourselves. The Landmark Conference is very competitive, so we are going to take it one game at a time and hope to be in the top spot at the end of the year. The standings at the end of the season are all that matters and we will be working hard to maintain the top position.

Moravian will begin its 2017-18 season on Wednesday, November 15 when the squad hosts rival Muhlenberg College, which also received votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Preseason Poll, in Johnston Hall with tip-off slated for 6:05 p.m. with the game being televised live by TV-2 Sports.
