Career Nights from Madison Amy & Sam Osorio Lead Moravian Past Drew

MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian College women's basketball team scored a season-high 77 points including 44 from the tandem of sophomore guard Madison Amy and freshman forward Sam Osorio to post a 77-68 Landmark Conference win at Drew University in the Greyhounds' final regular season road game in the abbreviated 2021 season.

How It Happened

• The Rangers jumped out to a 4-0 lead before junior guard Kayla Yoegel connected on a jump shot to get the Hounds on the scoreboard. Madison Amy would close the gap down to two points at 7-5 with a three-pointer, however; Drew would stretch the advantage up to eight points at 16-8 before settling for a 20-16 lead after 10 minutes of action
• The Greyhounds netted the first six points of the second quarter with a jumper from Yoegel at the 9:17 mark giving Moravian its first lead at 22-20. The Rangers would knot the score at 22-22 before freshman guard Reganne Flannery gave the Blue and Grey the lead back. Madison Amy made it a seven-point edge, 31-24, with a three-pointer with 6:39 to go until the intermission but Drew responded with a 13-2 run to move ahead 37-33. The Hounds countered with an 8-0 run as Yoegel made it a 41-37 lead, and a late free throw from Yoegel had the Greyhounds leading 44-41 at halftime
• Osorio opened the second half with a lay-up, and she would give Moravian a 57-49 lead with 1:51 left in the third. The teams combined for just 21 total points in the third period, and the Blue and Grey had that same 57-49 lead after 30 minutes of play
• After giving up the first points of the fourth, Madison Amy connected on a three-pointer and sophomore forward Emily Markowski hit a jumper to push the Greyhounds' lead into double digits for the first time at 62-51 with 7:27 to go. Markowski would make it a 13-point edge of 66-53, the largest of the night, a little over two minutes later. The Hounds would keep their lead over eight points the rest of the way 

Inside the Numbers

• Moravian had three players in double figures led by Madison Amy's career-high 25 points. Osorio added a career-best 19 points and Yoegel netted 11 points
• Madison Amy, who was 7-for-11 behind the arc, became just the seventh Greyhound and the second this season to make at least six three-pointers in a game, joining current assistant coach Amy Endler '93, Kim Hughes '04 (broke Endler's record with seven in a game in 2002), Amanda Brown '10, Danielle Brogan '14, Maddie Capuano '20, who hit a school record eight three-pointers twice to go with a game of six, and Sarah Donati '21, who made a six three-pointers in the season opener at Lancaster Bible College back on January 30. Only Madison Amy, Hughes and Capuano have made seven three-pointers in a single contest
• Osorio had 11 rebounds to pick up her second career double-double while Madison Amy dished out a career-best six assists
• Flannery tied her career-high with eight points while freshman forward Rachel Sutton added a career-best four points
• The Greyhounds had 28 points in the second quarter, the most in any period this season and flipped a four-point deficit into a three-point lead. The Blue and Grey were 11-for-19 from the floor in the period and 5-for-6 at the foul line
• The Hounds forced the Rangers into 21 turnovers while making just 17 miscues
• Moravian shot over 70 percent at the foul line for the eighth time in nine games this winter, going 10-for-13 (76.9) percent from the charity stripe
