Picciuto & Bill Honored Earn ECAC DIII South Weekly Honors

DANBURY, Conn. --- Moravian College sophomore midfielder/attack Jillian Picciuto and freshman midfielder Liz Bill have been honored as the ECAC Division III South Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week for their performances last week.

The duo helped the Greyhounds to a 2-0 record for the week as the squad out-scored its opponents 40-7 for the week with a 21-2 win over Gwynedd Mercy University and a 19-5 triumph versus DeSales University.

Picciuto, who was also named the Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week, recorded 21 points on 13 goals and eight assists during the two matches, and she contributed seven ground balls, 12 draw controls and three caused turnovers. Picciuto scored five goals and four assists to go with five ground balls and five draw controls against Gwynedd Mercy, and then she broke the school record with 12 points on eight goals and four assists to go along with seven draw controls, two ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers versus DeSales University.

"I'm thrilled to see Jill honored as the ECAC Player of the Week," stated Head Coach Kristen Nicholson. "She had a fantastic performance in both of our games last week breaking her previous point record in our second match. She's dominant on attack and has the ability to read a defense to find her openings to feed and score. We couldn't be happier to see her gain this recognition."

Bill contributed 12 goals and an assist during the week, and she also contributed four ground balls, six draw controls and two caused turnovers. Bill set a school record with 10 goals and tied the school record with 11 points in the win over Gwynedd Mercy, and she had two ground balls and four draw controls in the match. Bill then had two goals; two draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers versus DeSales.

"Liz has quickly become a true force for us on both ends of the field this season," Nicholson commented. "It wasn't until her recent move to attack that she's been able to truly shine. Liz has proven to be able to find her way to cage even through the most difficult defensive situations. We were very excited to see her break the single game goal record last week and I'm more excited to see what else she can do for us this season."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, March 29 in a non-conference match versus Lancaster Bible College beginning at 7:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
