Women's Lacrosse Falls at Elizabethtown in Landmark Conference Action

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse team fell to Elizabethtown College, 18-4, in Landmark Conference action on the road Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore midfielder/attack Jillian Picciuto led the Greyhounds, who are 6-6 on the season, with a pair of goals to go with three draw controls. Sophomore attack Kyleigh Miller had a goal while freshman midfielder Allie Brembt added a goal and five draw controls for Moravian.

Sophomore goalie Kelley Gavin had made six saves and scooped up two ground balls in 30 minutes of action while junior keeper Elisabeth Pontius added two stops in the second half. Freshman defender Allie Fisher had four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers while freshman midfielder Liz Bill had three ground balls and two caused turnovers while freshman defender Dayna Trotter added a pair of caused turnovers.

The Blue Jays scored first but back-to-back goals from Picciuto and Brembt had Moravian leading 2-1 just over 12 minutes into action. Elizabethton scored the next two goals to move back ahead, 3-2, before Picciuto tied the contest at 3-3 with 12:56 to play in the first half. The Blue Jays finished the opening 30 minutes with eight straight goals to head to the intermission with an 11-3 advantage. Miller would net her goal midway though the second half.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 22 when the squad hosts nationally-ranked The Catholic University of America in a Landmark Conference match and the Greyhounds' final home contest of the 2017 season on John Makuvek Field starting at 1:00 p.m.
