Women's Lacrosse Starts 2018 Slate on February 28 at King's

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse team is set to start its 2018 season on Wednesday, February 28 with a non-conference match at King's College.

Third-year Head Coach Kristen Nicholson has 14 players returning from last year's squad that posted a 7-9 record and played in the postseason for the first time in program history with a trip to the ECAC Division III Tournament First Round.

Nicholson returns her top seven scorers from last season including junior midfielder/attack Jillian Picciuto, who had 68 goals and 35 assists for 103 points to go with 66 draw controls, 29 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Picciuto, who has already set school career records with 73 assists and 205 points, was named to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team as the Greyhounds returned to Landmark action last spring. Sophomore midfielder Liz Bill is back after contributing 52 goals, three assists, 41 draw controls, 31 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers in her debut season while junior attack Jessica Pisano had 26 goals, five assists and 10 ground balls in 2017.

Sophomore midfielder Allie Brembt added 15 goals, an assists, 31 ground balls, 15 draw controls and 12 caused turnovers a year ago while junior attack Dalia Aguilar had 12 goals, three assists and 12 ground balls last spring. Junior attack Kyleigh Miller added 10 goals, two assists and 20 ground balls while senior attack Kyleigh McGovern returns for her final campaign after six goals, an assist, 20 ground balls and nine caused turnovers last season.

Senior midfielders Kristen Baxter and Alexis Kersten each scored two goals in 2017 with Baxter adding 37 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers and Kersten contributing 48 ground balls, 24 caused turnovers and 13 draw controls. Sophomore defender Allie Fisher had two goals, three assists and 42 draw controls while leading Moravian with 49 ground balls and 38 caused turnovers. Junior defender Jacqueline LaCava added 38 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers last season while junior defender Melissa Webber returns to the line-up after missing the entire 2017 season with an injury.

The Greyhounds return both of their goalies this spring in junior Kelley Gavin and senior Elisabeth Pontius. Gavin had a 12.82 goals-against average, 108 saves and 13 ground balls in 824 minutes of action while Pontius posted a 6.62 goals-against average and five saves in 136 minutes of play.

Coach Nicholson has added nine new players to the roster as Moravian looks to challenge in the Landmark Conference.
