Women Fall to No. 17 Catholic in Landmark Conference Action

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse team dropped a Landmark Conference match at No. 17 The Catholic University of America, 23-4, Saturday afternoon.

The Greyhounds, who are 10-4 overall and 4-2 in Landmark Conference action, have already clinched the program's first berth in the Landmark Conference Tournament. The Hounds found the back of the net on Saturday as sophomore midfielder Liz Bill had two goals, junior attack Jillian Picciuto contributed a goal and an assist and sophomore midfielder Allie Fisher added a goal. Picciuto and Fisher each had two ground balls for Moravian.

Junior goalie Kelley Gavin recorded 13 saves in 44 minutes of action for the Blue and Grey while freshman Courtney Heist played the final 16 minutes. Freshman midfielder Maecy Chlebowski had a team high four ground balls while sophomore defender Allie Brembt had two ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Senior midfielder Kristen Baxter scooped up two ground balls for Moravian while freshman midfielder Olivia Clearie had two caused turnovers.

The Cardinals scored the first four goals of the match before Picciuto put Moravian on the scoreboard with 23:57 left in the half. Fisher and Bill also scored in the first half as the Greyhounds trailed 12-3 at the intermission. Bill's other goal came just over three minutes into the second half.

The Hounds are scheduled to action on Saturday, April 28 when the squad hosts Goucher College to close out the 2018 regular season on John Makuvek Field at 1:00 p.m. with Moravian's Senior Day festivities before the contest.
