Moravian Tops Wooster in Non-Conference Action on Senior Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse team topped The College of Wooster, 21-13, in non-conference action on John Makuvek Field Thursday as the Greyhounds celebrated Senior Day.

The Hounds, now 4-2 on the season, had seven different goal scorers led by junior attack Danielle Sullivan netting five goals to go with an assist and three ground balls. Freshman attack Megan Donnelly added four goals, four assists, six draw controls and a pair of ground balls while junior midfielder Meaghan McMullan had four goals and an assist. Senior attack Liz Bill contributed three goals, five assists, five draw controls, four ground balls to pass 100 in her career and two caused turnovers while sophomore midfielder Lindsey Strohl netted three goals to go with three draw controls, three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

Junior attack Breanna Federico had a goal and an assist for the Blue and Grey while sophomore attack Eliza Fantazzi netted one goal. Sophomore attack Kelsey Moore contributed an assist while junior defender Olivia Clearie had five draw controls and a pair of ground balls. Senior defender Allie Brembt added four ground balls while sophomore defender Samantha Cherenson had three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

Freshman goalie Brelyn Friedman had 13 saves in 41 minutes of action for Moravian while junior goalie Courtney Heist added three saves in the final 19 minutes.

The Greyhounds scored two goals in the first 50 seconds of the match with Bill and Strohl both finding the net. Wooster cut it to a 4-3 score before goals from Strohl, Bill and Sullivan pushed the Blue and Grey's advantage to 7-3. The Hounds scored three more times in the first half with Fantazzi sending Moravian to the locker room with a 10-4 edge as she scored with just two seconds before the intermission.

Wooster scored the first two goals of the second half to close within give goals before Federico and Donnelly scored. The Hounds kept the lead above six for the rest of the match.

With the Landmark Conference suspending all athletic action through at least April 5, Moravian is not scheduled to return to action until Friday, April 10 when the squad is slated to host Juniata College in a Landmark Conference contest beginning at 1:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
