Greyhounds Fall at FDU-Florham in Final Non-Conference Match of 2022

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. --- The Moravian University women's lacrosse squad fell to host FDU-Florham, 20-10, in the Hounds' final non-conference match of the 2022 season Tuesday evening.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 15 seconds into action on a goal from freshman attack Madi Dippel. The Devils scored twice before senior midfielder Lindsey Strohl knotted the contest at 2-2 with 12:13 to go in the first quarter. FDU-Florham tallied four more goals to lead 6-2 after 15 minutes of action
  • The Devils extended their edge to 7-2 before Moravian scored four straight goals to cut the deficit to a goal at 7-6 with 5:24 to go in the second quarter. The Blue & Grey's run saw freshman attack Jackie Salvatore find the net twice and Strohl and senior attack Eliza Fantazzi each score once. FDU-Florham finished the period with a four-goal run of its own to extend its lead to 11-6 at the intermission
  • The Devils netted two goals to begin the second half before junior midfielder Megan Donnelly scored for the Greyhounds. FDU-Florham put three more markers on the scoreboard for a 16-7 lead while Fantazzi scored to make it a 16-8 edge for the Devils after 45 minutes of play
  • FDU-Florham opened the final quarter with a goal before Strohl netted two more goals for Moravian. The Devils scored the last three markers of the evening

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had five different goal scorers with Strohl netting a team-high four goals to go with a pair of draw controls. Fantazzi had two goals and a pair of assists while Salvatore scored two goals to go along with two ground balls. Donnelly and Dippel each tallied one goal with Dippel grabbing five draw controls and Donnelly adding two draws
  • Junior goalie Brelyn Friedman made the start in goal for the Greyhounds, and she posted 10 saves
  • Sophomore defender Keara Reilly and junior midfielder Emily Hoskin both scooped up a pair of ground balls
