Greyhounds Drop Tough 1-0 Match to Drew

Bethlehem, Pa.--- The Moravian College women's soccer team traveled to Drew University looking to clinch a Landmark Conference Tournament berth on Saturday.

In the first half, the Rangers would take a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute. Senior forward/midfielder Kirsten Schall would have two shots before the half while sophomore forward Melissa Walko also tested the keeper but all three shots were saved sending the Hounds trailing into intermission.

In the second half, the Hounds would get a cluster of shots of around the 48th minute, two from Schall, one missed to the right and the other was blocked, while junior midfielder/defender Melissa Pavia tried her luck but was also blocked.

The Greyhounds earned a corner kick in the 62nd minute. Schall would find sophomore forward/midfielder Valentina Margiottiello whose shot went just right of the goal. The Blue and Grey earned another corner kick and this time Schall found the head of junior defender Christine Miklas that went just over the crossbar in the 76th minute.

Looking to send the game into overtime, Walko struck a hard hit shot that hit the post in the 83rd minute. Schall would hit a shot in the 85th minute but would miss wide ending the game 1-0. Junior goalkeeper Jacqueline Zalis had two saves in the match and 67 saves for the season.
