Women's Soccer Shuts Out Penn State-Harrisburg 4-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team defeated Penn State-Harrisburg by a final score of 4-0 Wednesday afternoon as the Greyhounds finished off their three-match road trip to begin the 2015 season.

The first half was dominated by the Hounds as the team went up 2-0. It took a 34 minutes for the Greyhounds to break through. The first goal was scored by senior defender Melissa Pavia as she knocked in a corner kick from freshman forward Alyssa Morgan. The second goal was scored by Morgan off a great pass from junior forward Hannah LaFronz just 47 seconds before the half ended.

The Greyhounds were able to continue the dominance in the second half by scoring another two goals versus the Penn State-Harrisburg. The third goal was an unassisted tally netted by senior midfielder Taylor Blake. The final goal was scored by sophomore midfielder Brittney Peter with less than four minutes left in the game.

Senior goalkeeper Jacqueline Zalis made five saves in 90 minutes of play and registered her second shutout of the season and sixth of her career. The Hounds had a 12-10 edge in shots and a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks in the contest.

Moravian will play its home opener on Saturday September, 12 at 12:00 p.m. on the HUB Quad in non-conference action versus Ursinus College.
