Hounds Battle but Fall to No. 22 Haverford in Non-Conference Play

HAVERFORD, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team battled for 90 minutes and kept No. 22 ranked Haverford College scoreless for 63 minutes but the Hounds were unable to hold on in a tough, 2-0 non-conference match Wednesday afternoon.

The Fords, who are undefeated on the season, outshot the Greyhounds 9-1 in the first half but senior goalie Jacqueline Zalis made four of her six saves in the opening 45 minutes to keep the contest scoreless at the intermission. Junior forward Hannah LaFronz was just high on a shot for the Hounds in the 44th minute.

Haverford would get onto the scoreboard in the 64th minute and then again in the 82nd minute. The Hounds put together a late push but senior midfielder Catherine Lamplugh had her shot blocked in the 87th minute.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, October 3 in a Landmark Conference match at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. starting at 1:00 p.m.
