Women's Soccer Defeats Susquehanna, 1-0, on Blake PK

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team defeated Susquehanna University 1-0 in Landmark Conference play Saturday afternoon.

The game started off with the Hounds taking the ball right down the field. In the 10th minute, junior forward Valentina Margiottiello blasted a shot on net that was saved. Shortly afterwards, senior forward Brittany Nicoline rocketed another shot on net that was saved again.

In the 24th minute, the Greyhounds were awarded a penalty kick. Senior midfielder Taylor Blake lined up to take the shot and launched the kick past the goalie to put the team up 1-0 with her second goal of the season.

At the end of the first 45 minutes of play, the Hounds led the game by a score of 1-0, and also held a lead in shots at 6-2, and corner kicks 2-0.

In the second half, the Greyhounds continued the strong defensive play only allowing the Crusaders to take four shots in the second half. Senior goalkeeper Jacqueline Zalis made two saves on the day to bring her season total to 53 saves and giving her four shutouts. It was the eighth shutout of Zalis' career, moving her into fourth in school history
