WASHINGTON D.C. --- The fourth seeded Moravian College women's soccer team fought had in the Landmark Conference Semifinals at the top seeded The Catholic University of America Wednesday afternoon but the Hounds fell by a final score of 3-0 to the Cardinals to end the season.

In the first 45 minutes of play, the Greyhounds were able to keep the game scoreless with some excellent defensive play. Moravian was able to limit Catholic to only seven shots, four of which were on goal in the first half.

In the second half of play the Hounds found there footing and fired off two shots. The first came from freshman midfielder Mackenzie Koziel when she blasted on from outside the box only to have it blocked down in front. The second came from sophomore forward Emily Crowley as she headed the ball towards the net in in hopes to score. The Hounds had another chance come from off a corner kick by senior midfielder Brittany Nicoline as time wound down in the game and the Hounds pushed to find the back of the net.

"I thought we did a great job defending for 70 minutes even without our full complement of players," commented Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk after the match. "It's unfortunate that we faced an unlucky bounce off the top of the crossbar and as a result of that we fell behind a goal. Having to then release a back forward really allowed them to create better chances and that was the game, A coach can't ask for a better group of seniors and it's never easy saying goodbye. They have set a high bar for all of our returning players and for that I will always be thankful."

Senior goalkeeper Jacqueline Zalis  made six saves on the day to bring her season total to 72 saves. With those six save Zalis moves into fifth in the Moravian record books for career saves with 180. Zalis also finishes her career fifth in goals against average at a 1.29, seventh in save percentage with a 0.763, fourth in minutes played at 3,895 minutes, fourth in shutouts with nine and seventh with 12 wins.
