Daly Makes 10 Saves in First Career Start at Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 non-conference match at rival Muhlenberg College Sunday evening.

The Greyhounds, who are now 7-6-1, were playing for the second straight day and rested a number of starters for the entire match and others for a half Sunday with two crucial Landmark Conference contests later in the week as the team challenges for a postseason appearance.

The Mules controlled play early as Moravian started just one regular. Greyhound freshman goalie Jamie Daly, who was making her first collegiate start, posted three key saves in the first 23 minutes including one that looked destined for the back of the net in the 21st minute. Muhlenberg continued to send shots at Daly, who finished the first half of action with six saves.

The scoreless tie would be snapped by the Mules in the 52nd minute as they countered after a Moravian break. The Greyhounds pressed for the tying goal with freshman defender Kristen Parry and sophomore defender Shae Duka ripping shots on goal but the Blue and Grey were unable to find the equalizer.

Daly made four more saves in the second half to keep Moravian within striking distance as she finished with 10 saves in the first full match of her collegiate career.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, October 26 in a Landmark Conference match at Goucher College beginning at 7:00 p.m. Moravian can clinch a berth in the Landmark Conference Tournament with a win Wednesday evening.
