BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team found the back of the net six times and posted its second straight shutout to begin the 2017 season as the Greyhounds defeated Bryn Mawr College, 6-0, Sunday afternoon on John Makuvek Field.

The Hounds, now 1-0-1 on the season, tallied one goal in the first half before erupting for five goals after the intermission including two in the first ten minutes of the half. Moravian also had a 32-4 advantage in shots with 20 shots on goal, and the Blue and Grey also had a 12-2 edge in corner kicks.

"I was happy with the second half of the game," noted Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk. "The first half was a let down and although we managed 15 shots, the overall performance was disappointing."

Moravian opened the scoring in the 28th minute when freshman midfielder Val Monoco tapped in a crossing pass on the left side of the goal from junior forward Aimee Manley for the Hounds' first goal of the season and the first on Monoco's career. The Greyhounds finished the half with 15 shots but were unable to get another one in the net before halftime.

"We hit the restart button and cleared our minds of what took place in the first half.," stated Ykoruk. "I'm proud of them for that and happy to get the second shutout of the season."

Freshman forward Oonagh Breen scored off of a rebound for her first collegiate goal in the 50th minute to extend the lead to 2-0, and junior Jordan Luciano netted her first goal in her first season with the Greyhounds in the 56th minute when she tapped in a crossing pass on the right side of the goal on a pass from Breen.

Moravian extended the lead to 4-0 in the 66th minute when freshman defender Jordan Beneducci cut in the near post and tapped in a corner kick by senior defender Maria Manz for her first college tally. The Greyhounds finished off the scoring with a pair of goals in a span of 56 seconds as freshman midfielder Cat Cole scored her first college goal from the left side of the six-yard box on a pass from freshman midfielder Ashley Hutchinson in the 77th minute, and Hutchinson tallied her first collegiate marker at the 78-minute mark off of a cross in from freshman midfielder Julia Conway.

"I was excited to see all the goals come from newcomers and first-year players," concluded Ykoruk.

Freshman keeper Siobhan O'Sullivan-Evangelista recorded a pair of saves in the first start of her career to earn the shutout. Moravian has not allowed a goal in 200 minutes of action this season.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, September 6 in a non-conference match versus Stockton University beginning at 7:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
