Women's Soccer Blanks Mt. St. Vincent for Sixth Consecutive Shutout

RIVERDALE, N.Y. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team netted five goals while sophomore goalie Jamie Daly and freshman keeper Siobhan O'Sullivan-Evangelista combined on the Greyhounds' sixth shutout of the season to lead the Hounds to a 5-0 non-conference victory at the College of Mount Saint Vincent Saturday afternoon.

Daly, who is now 3-0-1 in goal this season, started and played the first 45 minutes while O'Sullivan-Evangelista played the second half of the match and made a pair of saves with the Greyhounds holding a 12-9 advantage in shots and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Senior defender Lauren Bertucci opened the scoring for Moravian with her first goal of the season in the 14th minute as she scored on a set piece kicked in by junior forward Gabby Stelzmiller after a foul. The Hounds would extend the lead to 2-0 in the 17th minute when sophomore midfielder Juliana Caranci netted her second goal of the season as she put a rebound into the back of the net.

The Blue and Grey scored three times in the second half with freshman midfielder Val Monaco netting her second goal of the season on an unassisted goal in the 59th minute. Caranci would find the back of the net again in the 70th minute as she took a shot from the top of the 18-yard box after a corner kick while freshman forward Erin O'Sullivan scored her first collegiate goal in the 87th minute as she knocked in a crossing pass from senior forward Catherine Condly.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Tuesday, September 19 when the Greyhounds will host Albright College in a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
