BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team earned their first win in Landmark Conference action with a 3-0 victory over Drew University Saturday afternoon on John Makuvek Field.

The Greyhounds, now 7-2-1 overall and 1-1 in Landmark Conference action, would get five shots on goal in the first half of the match, the first coming from sophomore defender Paige Weiss in the 16th minute. Three minutes later, Drew had a shot ring off the post and Moravian's second opportunity came in the 27th minute from freshman forward Oonagh Breen on a free kick around 24 yards out and curved it over the hands of the Rangers goalkeeper for the first goal of the game. The Greyhounds would enter the intermission with a 1-0 lead.

"I was really happy for the players," stated Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk. "They earned a hard-fought conference victory. The wind played a big role in the game. Going into the heavy wind during the second half I thought defensively we bent a little but didn't break."

Just three minutes into the second half, the Greyhounds would strike again putting Moravian up 2-0 when senior forward Emily Crowley tapped in a crossing pass from sophomore midfielder Juliana Caranci in the 48th minute. The final goal that the Blue and Grey scored would be the second of the game and fourth of the season for Breen as she launched a shot from the left side of the box and put in the bottom right side of the net in the 73rd minute.

Sophomore goalie Jamie Daly made one save while playing the first 45 minutes of the match for the Blue and Grey, and senior Jessica Lawton contributed six saves in the second half. The Greyhounds finished the match with an 6-4 edge in corner kicks and were outshot 15-12 by Drew.

"I was happy for our keepers to earn another shutout and excited to see Oonagh and Emily score today," concluded Ykoruk.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, October 7 when the squad hosts Goucher College in a Landmark Conference match beginning at 1:00 p.m.
