Hounds Drop 1-0 Landmark Conference Match at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team had a 15-7 advantage in shots but was unable to find the net in a 1-0 loss at Elizabethtown College in Landmark Conference action Wednesday evening.

Moravian, now 8-3-1 overall and 2-2 in Landmark Conference contests, opened the first half by controlling play and getting off the first 11 shots of the match with four on goal. The Greyhounds fired three shots on the keeper in the first ten minutes of action with junior midfielder Aimee Manley, junior forward Gabby Stelzmiller and senior forward Emily Crowley taking shots that were saved. Senior defender Lauren Bertucci headed a shot on the goalie in the 25th minute that was also stopped. However, it was Elizabethtown that ended up scoring first with a goal in the 41st minute after a corner kick to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Both teams would take three shots in the second half with Crowley putting another shot on the keeper in the 66th minute.

Sophomore keeper Jamie Daly played the first half of the match for the Greyhounds while senior goalie Jessica Lawton had two saves in the final 45 minutes of action.

The Hounds are slated to return to action on Saturday, October 14 when Moravian heads to The Catholic University of America in a Landmark Conference match beginning at 12:30 p.m.
