BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team posted a 2-0 victory over visiting Juniata College in Landmark Conference action on Senior Day at John Makuvek Field as the Greyhounds remained in the mix for the Landmark Conference Tournament.

"I was happy for the win on Senior Day and our five seniors deserved that," stated Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk. "I thought we struggled early in the attack to be creative enough to break down Juniata's numbers behind the ball."

Moravian, now 9-5-1 overall and 3-3 in Landmark Conference action, would get onto the scoreboard in the closing minute of the first half. On a ball bouncing around at the top of the 18-yard box, freshman midfielder Shelby Breen volleyed a ball towards the goal that bounced off of the Juniata goalie and then the crossbar before settling into the net for Breen's first goal of her collegiate career.

"I was very happy for Shelby to score a late goal going in the halftime and with a better mindset and focus we really turned it up a level in the second half," Ykoruk said.

The Hounds added a second goal in the 85th minute when sophomore defender Paige Weiss headed in a low driven corner kick by senior defender Maria Manz for Weiss's first goal of the season. Moravian finished the match with a 15-5 edge in shots and an 11-0 advantage in corner kicks.

"We created a handful of quality chances and it paid off with a late goal of a corner," finished Ykoruk.

Senior Jessica Lawton earned the victory in goal on Senior Day as she played the first half of the contest. Sophomore Jamie Daly saw action during the second half.

The Greyhounds will close out their 2017 regular season on Saturday, October 28 when the squad travels to Susquehanna University for a Landmark Conference match beginning at 1:00 p.m.
