CORTLAND, N.Y. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team dropped a tough 2-1, double-overtime decision at SUNY Cortland Friday evening to begin the 2018 season.

A year after the schools played to a 0-0 draw in Bethlehem to start the 2017 campaign, the Greyhounds needed just 1:15 to make sure there would be a score in the contest this fall. Senior forward Gabby Stelzmiller took a corner kick that found the head of senior midfielder Shae Duka and Duka headed the ball into the net. Stelzmiller finished the evening with five of the Blue and Grey's 14 shots including three on goal.

The Greyhounds held that one-goal lead until just 1:39 before the end of regulation when the Red Dragons snuck a long free kick just inside the left post to knot the score at 1-1. The squads played a scoreless first overtime before SUNY Cortland netted the game winner in the 106th minute on a header.

Moravian junior goalie Jamie Daly made two saves while playing the first 45 minutes of the contest while sophomore Siobhan O'Sullivan-Evangelista made four saves in 61 minutes of action.

The Hounds continue their season opening road trip on Sunday, September 2 with a non-conference contest at Bryn Mawr College beginning at 2:00 p.m.
