Moravian Shuts Out Alvernia, 4-0, to Begin 2018 Home Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team opened its 2018 home season with a 4-0 non-conference victory over Alvernia University on John Makuvek Field Saturday.

The Hounds took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute when senior forward Gabby Stelzmiller  found the back of the net for the first time this season off of pass from senior midfielder Aimee Manley.

Moravian would extend its advantage to 2-0 in the 53rd minute when freshman forward Megan Chesney took a short pass from senior midfielder Shae Duka and put it into the right side of the net for her first collegiate goal. Chesney scored again in the 69th minute to push the lead to 3-0. Junior

Sophomore goalie Siobhan O'Sullivan-Evangelista started in goal for the Blue and Grey and had two saves while junior keeper Jamie Daly played the second half as the duo combined on their second shutout of the season.

The Greyhounds will be back in action on Sunday, September 9 when the squad hosts The College of New Jersey in a non-conference contest beginning at 6:00 p.m.
