ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team posted a 2-0 win in a non-conference match at rival Muhlenberg College Wednesday afternoon.
The Greyhounds, now 3-1-1 after their second straight victory, posted their third shutout of the season with junior goalie Jamie Daly and sophomore keeper Siobhan O'Sullivan-Evangelista each playing 45 minutes. Daly made three saves in the first half for her first win of the season while O'Sullivan-Evangelista recorded four saves in the second half.
Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute when junior midfielder Juliana Caranci netted her first goal of the season as she went in on a breakaway versus the goalie. The score would remain that way through the rest of the first half.
The Hounds extended their lead to 2-0 in the 48th minute when freshman forward Megan Chesney scored her team-leading third goal of the season when she knocked in a pass from senior forward Gabby Stelzmiller in with her left foot.
The Blue and Grey had a 13-2 advantage in corner kicks in the match despite being outshot, 14-12.
The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, September 15 when they host Keystone College in a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
