BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College sophomore midfielder Caitlyn Sugarman netted her first career hat trick as the Greyhounds raced past Marywood University, 6-0, in non-conference action on John Makuvek Field Tuesday evening.

"I was proud of our effort and focus tonight," noted Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk. "Playing a non-conference game this late in the season can be a trap, but the players had the right mentality and approach. Our reserves gave us a big lift not only with the energy but with playing with a sense of calm and purpose. Our goal was to get back on track with keeping teams off the scoreboard and our defenders and Siobhan in goal did just that."

The Greyhounds, now 8-3-2, were playing their final non-conference contest of the 2018 season Tuesday and jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute when freshman midfielder Alexa Brown drilled in a shot from the top of the 18-yard box off of a pass from freshman forward Megan Chesney for Brown's second goal in as many matches. The Hounds pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 39th minute when Sugarman scored her first of the night and second of the season on a shot from the left side of the six-yard box set up by freshman midfielder Morgan Covart.

Moravian tallied four goals in the second half starting with senior forward Gabby Stelzmiller knocking in a crossing pass from sophomore midfielder Val Monaco  just 1:10 into the second half. The goal was Stelzmiller's fifth of the season and 16th of her career as Stelzmiller moved within a point of becoming the 11th player in school history to reach 50 points.

Sugarman would net the next two goals to complete the Greyhounds' 21st all-time halt trick and first since Stelzmiller scored three times in a 4-3 overtime win versus The Catholic University of America on November 1, 2016 on John Makuvek Field. Sugarman headed in a corner kick from sophomore defender Lexi Peploe in the 66th minute, and she finished off the half trick in the 72nd minute with an unassisted goal. Sophomore forward Oonagh Breen completed the scoring with 1:01 remaining as she tallied her third marker of the fall.

Sophomore goalie Siobhan O'Sullivan-Evangelista recorded five saves for her first solo shutout of the season for the Blue and Grey.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, October 20 when the squad hosts The Catholic University of America in a Landmark Conference match beginning at 4:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field. The Greyhounds will be celebrating Senior Day in the squad's final home contest of the season.
