Stelzmiller, Duka & Weiss Selected to 2018 Landmark Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams

Paige Weiss, Shae Duka and Gabby Stelzmiller named to 2018 Landmark All-Conference Women's Soccer Teams

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior forward Gabby Stelzmiller has been selected to the 2018 Landmark All-Conference Women's Soccer First Team while senior midfielder Shae Duka and junior defender Paige Weiss were named to the All-Conference Second Team.

Stelzmiller, who earned her second Landmark All-Conference First Team honor after making the squad in 2016, led the squad in scoring this fall with five goals and a career-best 10 assists for 20 points while starting all 16 matches. Stelzmiller completed her career with 16 goals and 18 assists, which is tied for fourth in program history, for a total 50 career points, tied for tenth in school history, in 59 matches. After the 2016 season, Stelzmiller was also named to the NSCAA Division III Women's All-Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team.

"I'm extremely excited for Gabby," stated fifth-year Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk. "For her to bounce back the way she did this season and being named a First Team player is a testament to her hard work and determination. She worked so hard last spring and this summer to get back on track and it showed in her play. She was our leader up top and to have double digit assists shows how much of a team player she is. She is the known in every game and from a player draw that much attention from opposing teams defenders and still put of the numbers she did is outstanding."

Duka, who garnered her third Second Team All-Conference honor after being on the squad in 2016 and 2017, recorded four goals and an assist for nine points this season in 15 contests. She had five goals and two assists for 12 points over 47 matches in three seasons with the Greyhounds, and is a two-time selection to the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll as well.

"Shae did everything for us in the middle of the field," Ykork commented. "She is one of the best ball winning midfielders I have coached. She won every 50/50 ball for us and was tremendous in the air. She served as one of our team captains and led the team by example. Her hard work on the field set a standard for all of our younger players. She never played the senior card, which is something we wanted to change. She was the first player to help carry equipment, move goals and when 3/4 of your team is first and second year players, having a role model like Shae was paramount."

Weiss, who was the 2016 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and on the All-Conference Second Team last year, scored a pair of goals this season while helping Moravian's defense post seven shutouts in 16 matches. Weiss has netted six goals in 49 career contests.

"Paige was our rock in the back this season," Ykoruk said. "She had an amazing summer and came into camp very fit and it showed in her play. She probably logged the most minutes this season out of all of the field players and even when she played a bit hurt, she was our anchor in the back line. She was relentless in her 1v1 defending and served as a vocal leader as one of our captains. Paige continued to be one of the biggest threats on attacking corner kicks and was equally impressive on defending corners

The trio helped the Greyhounds to a 9-5-2 record this fall, and coach Ykoruk has 25 players slated to return for the 2019 season.
