
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Junior Catie Lovett from the Moravian University women's swimming squad has been honored as the Moravian Student-Athlete of the Week Fueled by Honey Stinger for her performance last week.
Lovett, who garnered the honor for the third time this winter, set three school records at the 2024 Landmark Conference Championships, breaking marks in each of her individual events, and she was part of 62 points the Hounds scored at the four-day meet. Last Thursday, Lovett was part of the 200-yard medley relay that placed eighth in a time of 2:06.36, the fifth fastest time in program history. On Friday, Lovett swam a school record time of 25.52 seconds in "B" finals of the 50-yard freestyle finals. Lovett was 13th overall and fourth in her preliminaries heat in a time of 25.82 seconds.
This past Saturday, she swam a school record time of 1:04.66 in the preliminaries of the 100-yard backstroke to reach the "B" finals in 16th place. Lovett then posted a time of 1:04.74 in the finals. She was also part of the 200-yard freestyle relay that had a season-best time of 1:51.49, the third-best mark in program history. On Sunday, Lovett broke the 100-yard freestyle record three times. She first broke the school record with a time of 56.34 seconds in the preliminaries to advance to the "B" finals in 12th place, and Lovett then swam a new record time of 56.30 in "B" finals to finish 11th in the event. Lovett finished the meet in the 400-yard freestyle relay as she swam a school record 55.84 seconds to begin the race. The first leg (100 yards) of the relay is eligible for school records and postseason qualifying.
