Women's Tennis Quest for 19th Straight Conference Tournament Berth Begins Saturday at Goucher

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team will open its 2013 Landmark Conference season at Goucher College on Saturday, March 16th at the Bare Hills Racquet Club in Baltimore beginning at 5:00 p.m.

27th-year Head Coach Dawn Ketterman-Benner, who has a career record of 270-110, has the Greyhounds looking for their 19th straight postseason berth. Moravian, which was picked fourth in the women's Landmark Conference Preseason Poll, is 6-0 on the season heading into a non-conference match with Ursinus College at Hoffman Courts Friday afternoon. The Greyhounds are 3-0 at home this season.

Freshman Brittany Hodge is leading Moravian with an 8-1 singles record with a 6-0 slate at fourth singles while freshman Courtnie Lambert is 6-3 with a 4-2 mark at fifth singles. Sophomore Melissa Follett is 5-4 in her first year with the Greyhounds, playing both first and second singles while junior Erica Venuti is 6-6 while playing third singles.

Junior Katie Zien is 2-0 this spring at second singles after missing the fall portion of the season while studying abroad. Junior Olivia Sonnabend is 3-1 at sixth singles while freshman Celia Hernandez has a 2-2 singles mark.

In doubles action, Follett has combined with Sonnabend for a 6-1 record including 3-1 at second doubles, and Follett is 4-1 with Venuti including a 2-0 mark at first doubles. Zien and Sonnabend are 2-0 at second doubles this spring while Hodge and Lambert have combined for a 5-1 slate at third doubles.
