Women's Tennis Tops Southwest Minnesota State University to Open Spring Season

ORLANDO, Fla. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team began the spring portion of its 2016-17 season Sunday evening with a 5-4 victory over NCAA Division II Southwest Minnesota State University in Orlando.

The Greyhounds trailed 2-1 after doubles action with the duo of senior Brittney Eady and junior Skylar Oliwa posting an 8-6 win at first doubles.

Moravian tied the match at 2-2 when freshman Eiman Nazif had a straight sets win at third singles, and junior Grace Bailly pushed the Greyhounds into the lead with a three-set win at sixth singles. Southwest Minnesota State won the next two singles contests to move back in front, 4-3, before sophomore Kate Rennar earned a straight sets victory at fifth singles to knot the score at 4-4. Eady was the final player off the court, and her straight sets win at first singles sealed the team win for the Hounds.

Moravian is scheduled to continue its trip to Orlando on Monday, March 6 when the squad takes on Saint Vincent College at 8:00 a.m. at the newly built United States Tennis Association Training Center.
