Greyhounds Compete at ITA Southeast Regional in Virginia

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team competed in the 2017 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Southeast Regional Tournament hosted by the University of Mary Washington on Saturday and Sunday, September 23-24.

Freshman Emma Angle competed in the Championship singles flight, falling to a player from Johns Hopkins University in the opening round, and Angle was also in the Championship doubles flight with senior Skylar Oliwa where the duo fell to the fifth seeded squad from Washington & Lee University. Oliwa dropped her opening round match in the Blue 2 singles flight.

Freshmen Brooke Adams and Mary Angle won their opening round set versus a team from Sweet Briar (Va.) College in the Blue 2 doubles flight before falling to a squad from The Catholic University of America in the quarterfinals. Adams also women her opening match in the Blue 3 singles flight against a player from Sweet Briar before being knocked out in the quarterfinals by a player from Catholic. Mary Angle fell in a three-set match in her opening round of the Blue 4 singles draw.

Freshman Kristen Cassidy and sophomore Lauren Steinert received a bye in the first round of the Blue 3 doubles bracket before defeating a duo from Randolph (Va.) College in the quarterfinals. The pair lost a match to a duo from Catholic in the semifinals. Cassidy dropped her opening round set in the Blue 1 singles flight.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Tuesday, October 3 when the squad heads to DeSales University for a non-conference match beginning at 4:00 p.m.
