Women's Tennis Opens 2018 Spring Campaign with Win over Bryn Mawr

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team opened its 2018 spring campaign with a 6-3 non-conference victory over Bryn Mawr College Friday afternoon in a match played indoors at the Lehigh University Lewis Indoor Tennis Center.

The Greyhounds, now 4-1 on the year, took a 2-1 lead after doubles action. The Owls earned the first point of the match with a win at first doubles before freshmen Brooke Adams and Kristen Cassidy evened the score with an 8-6 victory at second doubles. The tandem of sophomore Lauren Steinert and freshman Mary Angle put the Hounds in front with an 8-6 triumph at third doubles.

As singles action began, junior Kate Rennar pushed the Blue and Grey's advantage to 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-2 win at sixth singles. Bryn Mawr would come back and even the contest at 3-3 with wins at first and second singles. Adams put the Greyhounds back in front with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at third singles while Steinert earned the winning team point with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at fifth singles. Angle finished off the match with a 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 win at fourth singles.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, March 21 in a non-conference contest versus Ursinus College beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Hoffman Courts in Bethlehem.
