Greyhounds to Host Catholic in Landmark Conference Semifinal on May 1

The women's tennis team hosts Catholic University in a Landmark Conference Semifinal match on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team has earned the second seed in the 2018 landmark Conference Tournament, and the Greyhounds will host third seed The Catholic University of America in a Semifinal match on Tuesday, May 1 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Hoffman Courts in Bethlehem.

The Hounds, who are 11-2 overall and finished the Landmark Conference regular season with a 6-1 slate, defeated the Cardinals, 8-1, when the two squads met in Washington, D.C. on April 21. Moravian is heading to the Landmark Conference Tournament for the second straight season and the eighth time in the 11-year history of the conference. The Greyhounds has three Landmark Conference Championships, winning in 2008, 2009 and 2011.

Freshman Brooke Adams leads the Blue and Grey with an 11-4 singles mark including 9-2 at third singles this season while freshman Mary Angle is 10-3 with a 9-1 slate at fourth singles. Sophomore Lauren Steinert has posted an 8-1 slate with a 7-0 record at fifth singles while freshman Emma Angle has a 7-7 mark at first singles. Freshman Kristen Cassidy is 6-6 at second singles in her debut season while senior Grace Bailly is 5-5 at sixth singles. Junior Kate Rennar has a 4-2 record while playing fourth, fifth and sixth singles.

Steinert and Mary Angle have combined for a 9-0 record in doubles action in the third spot while Adams and Cassidy are 6-3 at second doubles. Cassidy and Steinert have also posted a 3-1 doubles mark while Adams and Mary Angle have a 2-3 doubles slate. Rennar has a 4-5 slate with Emma Angle including three wins at first doubles.

The winner of the semifinal will advance to Saturday's 2018 Landmark Conference Championship match versus the winner of top seed The University of Scranton and fourth seed Elizabethtown College at the highest remaining seed. The conference champion receives an automatic berth to the 2018 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
